About Me

I’m Kristine Gatlin, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health care. With a strong belief in the power of connection and understanding, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for all my patients.

My clinical experience has been in various settings; I have been a nurse for over 20 years, working in ICU, Medical, Oncology, and Case Management, and for the last 8 years as a nurse in Inpatient psychiatric facilities as well as a Substance Abuse Center before becoming a nurse practitioner. I also have many lived experiences, including being a cancer patient. This diverse background has equipped me with the skills to address a wide range of mental health concerns.

A Personalized Mental
Health Approach

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I believe in an integrative approach to mental health care. I focus on:

  • Individualized Care: Every patient is unique, and I tailor my treatment plans to meet your specific needs and goals. We do the initial assessment to gather information on you, your goals, and what has worked in the past or has not worked. The initial assessment is 1 hour long.

  • Empathy and Understanding: I prioritize building a trusting relationship with my patients, ensuring that they feel heard and supported throughout their journey.

  • Collaboration: My treatment approach is to work together as a TEAM. After the assessment, I will discuss my diagnosis with you and the treatment options available, also based on previous trials of medications. We do not have to do prescription medication if you want a more natural approach. I am able to recommend some more holistic options as well as behavioral strategies. I will discuss what medications for the diagnosis are available and the side effects, and we pick an option together based on that information. I believe in less medication at the best doses for you to achieve your optimal results. I do not want to be a pill mill. At first, you may be unable to focus or do other strategies. As you improve and with time, we will work closely with each patient to develop effective strategies, including cognitive strategies, behavioral techniques, nutrition, physical movement, and other alternatives that empower you to take charge of your mental health.
